The African Union leads policy making and implementation of decisions aimed at promoting a dialogue-centred approach to conflict prevention and resolution of conflicts. It has various ammunition safety and security initiatives with African countries to help promote improved capacity for physical security and stockpile management (PSSM), for example helping states to reduce the risk of unplanned explosions at munitions sites and prevent diversion of government-held stockpiles.
