As an independent, non-profit organisation, Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies (BICC) deals with a wide range of global topics in the field of peace and conflict research. A key focus of its research cluster ‘Armament and Arms Control: Controlling Arms and Supporting Disarmament’ lies on the control of small arms in Africa. This includes the counter-proliferation of SALW, the physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) of state weapons stocks, the marking and registration of arms and ammunition and the improved coordination of arms control initiatives.
