The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was established to promote economic integration across the region. Considered one of the pillars of the African Economic Community, ECOWAS fosters the ideal of collective self-sufficiency for its member states. Its ammunition management activities include providing arms and ammunition stockpile management equipment to state forces, and encouraging regional cooperation on issues of ammunition management.
